The local Carpet Weavers Association in Turgut will give you an insight into the fabulous Turkish tradition of carpet weaving. In a personal tour, they can demonstrate how Turkish carpets are made and also show the varied materials and natural dyes that are used. Also silk cocoons, later on which become one of the world’s most precious works of art.
Turkish carpets are renowned for their quality and are famous world-wide. They have evolved for around 3000 years. The Turgut Carpet Weavers Association has a very large collection of hand spun wool carpets and also kilims which are produced by villagers all over turkey.
They are unique as each carpet has its own symbols and patterns that mark the area and reason why they have been made. As well as being beautiful objects, they are also an investment for the future.
